About the artwork

My titles reflect the nature of the works, which are about instability and a gap between reality and description, so the titles are often absurd and contradictory. In all my work, I am trying to dig out forms and appearances hidden behind the time I live in. There is a play between chance and control and between surface and what’s underneath. Some of these horizontal lines occured when I was scanning metal foil, which reflected back into the scanner and created a disturbance, resulting in these ultraviolet lines. Interestingly, the disturbance is the only thing that is absolutely symmetrical. They give the image an almost sound-like quality, like an electronic buzz. I regularly work with scanners and various printing methods, and I chose the images for a digitally reproduced edition with Absolut Art because they already had something to do with digital images.
