Rachel and Kate are a dynamic duo
“We are interested in the play between the physical and virtual world, exploring the relationship between the three-dimensional object and its two-dimensional representation.”
Born in 2012, Open for Business is an ongoing collaboration between Brooklyn-based artist Kate Steciw and Berlin inhabitant Rachel de Joode. Both artists have a specialised and individual focus in sculpture and photography, and work together to create a performative exhibition once or twice a year. They hope to blur the divide that separates performance and installation, whilst displaying their collaborative photography simultaneously. Since its inception, Open for Business has performed in New York, Mexico City, Berlin and in Turin. Together, Steciw and de Joode investigate issues such ownership and authorship, and how images and information can change over time and space.
