About Aram Bartholl
Aram questions if man really is in control of machine.
“While our online lives are becoming more and more important, the systems that are meant to protect our identities seem to fail more and more often.”
Aram Bartholl's work explores the interplay between the internet, culture and reality. Although society has generally accepted that modern man has used technology to his benefit, Bartholl’s focus is on how the digital world has used mankind in return. He poses philosophical concerns, like how much technology does society really need, the tension between public and private lives, and our infatuation with technology. Bartholl has developed a series of prints for Absolut Art that he made manually from his desktop monitor. He painted the frame of his HP screen black, and then pasted the paper on top. The resulting black rectangle represents the screen that he works with everyday.
