Get to know Eve Fowler
Eve takes a no-nonsense text-based approach
“Though the meaning of Gertrude Stein’s text is open-ended, I am assuming that the use of the word "fire" in this piece has to with sex. I think that's fairly obvious.”
Born in New York in 1965, Eve Fowler received her MFA in photography at Yale University, and her BA in journalism from Temple University in 1986. Fowler’s recent exhibitions have been held at Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, MoMA and Artspace. Her work has also been acquired by institutions like The Smithsonian Institute and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. American writer Gertrude Stein was a central inspiration to Fowler’s work for Absolut Art. As a result, viewers will find text sourced from Stein. These artworks have also previously appeared in Fowler’s recent show at Mier Gallery as large screen prints on canvas.
