Samara creates rich and spatial experiences
“I originally chose to live in Los Angeles because it was less expensive than New York. Now I live here because of the mountains at night, the sea, the flowers and the light.”
With an MFA from Columbia University, Samara Golden creates installations that are vivid and rich. Her works combine the past, present and future into one space, drawing viewers into an immersive, alternate universe. Her work has been shown at MoMA Ps1 in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and at the Zabludowicz Collection in London. For Absolut Art, the artist has created three pieces that hark back to her installations from 2012 all the way to the present. One piece is entitled “BAD BRAINS mask with eye”, and revolves around a past installation that dedicates a physical place for lost souls and those whom died too early, often from violence inflicted on themselves.
