Entirely self-taught, Stockholm photographer David Schmidt focuses on his beloved home city, where the Budapest native has lived since the 1980s. Whether he’s illuminating its architecture, geography, or its major attractions, Schmidt always brings an emphasis on the Swedish capital’s distinctive light. He achieves unusual effects through the use of double exposures, drones, and analog processes. He has shot thousands of photos for the major photography firm Pixprovider in addition to working as a freelancer, and has produced tourist products for the city of Stockholm as well as showing his photographs in offices, hotels, and nursing homes.
“I dislike too much planning in my creation,” says Schmidt. “I want to work out the image in the present and be creative in the moment.”
