About Edouard Baribeaud
Get to know Edouard Baribeaud
Edouard’s flights of fancy get a reality check
“I like to juxtapose the mundane with the mythical. And in doing so, I blend real personal experiences with invented memories.”
After studying book illustration and printmaking at the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Arts Appliqués in Paris, Edouard Baribeaud moved to Berlin in 2010, where he now likes to work on extended series on paper and canvas. Baribeaud’s work often features mythical subjects that are confronted with the harsh realities of the world. As a result, his pieces often contain surreal and magical elements rendered in harsh and graphic lines and colours. Baribeaud’s watercolour works for Absolut Art are part of a larger series entitled “The Hour of the Gods”. The series was inspired by a trip to India, as the artist sought to compare his pre-conceived notions of Indian culture against his own travel experiences.
