About Jaakko Pallasvuo
Jaakko is a fan of cacti and climate change anxiety
“I feel like I never properly chose to live in Berlin. My time here has always been spent delaying that decision.”
With diverse inspirations like climate change anxiety, the Middle Ages and Picasso, Jaakko Pallasvuo’s occupation does not fit neatly into a square box. The artist’s drawings and paintings reveal his background as an illustrator and cartoonist, but he also dabbles in text, video and performance art to explore themes such as hierarchies, feelings and social arrangements. Pallasvuo has created an ink drawing entitled “Cacti” for Absolut Art. The work depicts a young man running out of a house, leaning on a wall and touching a fossil on the table for good luck. The work gets its name from the many cacti in the foreground that observe this scene.
