Nicolas examines how machines have permeated society

“Creating tension between space and objects is crucial to my practise, as I hope to show the close relationship between material and immaterial realities.”

Nicolas Pelzer’s work is concerned with the growing influence of technology and new media, and how they both dramatically influence the value system of modern society. Part of this fascination with the digital sector is prompted by his many trips to Seoul, a high tech hub where Pelzer has exhibited work in places like Space O'NewWall and Artsonje Centre. Though many of his projects are physical in form, the creative and production process involves extensive use of the computer before they are brought to life. For Absolut Art, Pelzer has created interpretations of prehistoric stone tools. The shapes are generated with a computer software based on symmetric rules and later combined with an image texture of water stones.
