Hanna Schwarz

Hanna re-imagines the archetypal businessman

“My collages for Absolut Art are connected to a series of works that I completed previously. They relate to postmodern dance, music and the discourse of body politics.”

Dabbling in videos, drawings, collages, sculptures and installations, Hanna Schwarz’s practise looks at themes surrounding body politics, the deconstruction of architectural structures and the relationship between body and space. Her installations are characterised by fragility and a deliberate sketchiness, and combine multiple disciplines to create a diversified experience.
Schwarz has created two collages with photographs from an old copy of Life Magazine as part of her work for Absolut Art. The images show men in suits that are falling, flying or jumping, highlighting the contrast between their masculine attire and the femininity of their behaviour.

Among other venues, the artist has exhibited her work at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt; ZKM, Karlsruhe; Migrosmuseum, Zurich; Abrons Art Center, New York; and Kunstverein für die Rheinlande, Dusseldorf.
