Sigrid’s Garden (The Idea)
About the artwork
For a long time, I’ve been working with images consisting of some kind of revelation, often involving shadows and/or reflections, or artificial lights in the dark. It might be a personal, subjective image of something that for me has an “aha!” quality that is present at that moment when you feel you know something but you can’t yet put it into words.
SIGRID’S GARDEN (The Idea) is a photo of a garden at night. During the day there’s a school that’s about to be renovated on the other side of the garden wall, but at night it turns into something else—a seductive, mysterious site. There’s the cold white light against the garden’s soft foliage, but also the golden light on the façade that makes me think of something spectacular, theatrical. Abundance! But of what?
