About the artwork

The world of fashion lost an icon when designer Karl Lagerfeld died on February 19, 2019, as reflected on the cover of this edition of the UK newspaper The Times. Not only a designer but also an artist, photographer, and caricaturist, Lagerfeld had incredible influence as creative director at Chanel, at Fendi, and at his own label. His fashion sense is reflected in a cheeky way by juxtaposing him with a peacock, the very symbol of showiness; his quirky character is reflected by the headline at lower right: “Lagerfeld’s pampered cat to get paws on £150m fortune.”
