About Lothar Hempel
Lothar creates lively spectacles
“Art is an integral part of one's life and should be used like a tool. The better you can use it, the better the art.”
Born in 1966 in Cologne, Germany, Lothar Hempel believes strongly that art should be a vital part of life. It should therefore come as no surprise then that his inspirations come from everywhere. His latest fascination? A book about shamanism and archaic techniques of ecstasy by Mircea Eliade. Hempel has exhibited at various art institutions and exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale, MoMA PS1 and Centre Georges Pompidou. Hempel has on offer two works for Absolut Art. One is entitled “S I L E N C I O”, and features a picture from a Swedish film called “Persona”. The work is also detailed with stamps and stains to give the work a vintage aesthetic. The other is named “Silberblick”, and stars German pop star and heroin addict Christiane F.
