A Waltz in Zurich

About the artwork
This composition is a bit like the Edvard Munch painting Dance on the Shore, with two central figures near a tree. It references a morbid romantic moment in the Munch, which is about the dance of time, but my work is obviously much less dark. Like Pink Bird in Flight, it’s also a study for a larger painting; this one was on view at Shrine, a gallery in New York. In place of the voids created by the tree trunks in the Munch painting, you have the faces of these two figures finding each other in a place that is nondescript but also real. And, it’s the meeting of an unexpected pair, a duck and a swan.
