About the artwork

My series of drawings “In Limbo” includes characters who serve as metaphors for emotional states. They are contradictory—they oscillate between different states of mind, or towards a new phase. You could compare it to adolescence, or being in limbo, in a borderland between pain and pleasure. In this ambiguous region lie timeless questions about the sense of self. They deal with questions about identity—where does one living being end and the next begin? They’re also about being in a situation where you are dependent on others, for better or worse—forced to cooperate with other individuals or two different sides of yourself.
