Lars Wallin by Stina Wirsén
Swedish fashion designer Lars Wallin has designed for Miss World and the Eurovision Song Contest, as well as designing dresses for no less a client than Crown Princess Victoria. He also designed outfits for singer Carola Maria Häggkvist, aka Carola, in her winning appearance at the 2006 Melodifestivalen and for her appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens.
Stina Wirsén is an independent artist and illustrator who was previously on staff at Dagens Nyheter, Sweden’s largest morning paper, where she illustrated culture features like travel reports and fashion illustrations. She has created public art projects at the Åhléns City department store, Stockholm and the Skellefteå Konsthall, as well as exhibiting her work at venues from the Sweden House in Washington, D.C. to the Sunaparanta Centre for the Arts, in Goa, India. And her art isn’t just for grownups; as an author and illustrator, she has also published dozens of children’s books.
Wirsén first illustrated Wallin’s works when he was chosen to represent Swedish fashion in Swedish postage stamps in 2010. Since then the two have cooperated in various ways, including Wirsén interpreting Wallin’s designs in a series of watercolor and ink paintings.
