Nathan Peter

Nathan pushes the realm of possibility

“I take pictures of everything, from architecture, to graffiti, to visual anomalies, all of which I then use as my own visual archive and catalogue.”

Born in Minneapolis, Nathan Peter studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design, before moving to London and now Berlin. Peter pushes the possibilities of his materials. He repeatedly applies paint and corrodes its layers away, creating a unique visual effect whose abrasive process often brings the canvases he is working on to the point of destruction. In doing so, he hopes to distill the essence of both the material he uses, and his practise.
Peter has digitally woven several images together to create two prints for Absolut Art. The original images, including a classical still life of a peeled lemon as well as fragmented surfaces and patterns, are combined together to create a patchwork image.
