About the artwork

The painterly folded drapery in the background falls softly behind the centralized and fragmented lemon atop a surface. The traditional zones of foreground, middleground and background are here playfully rearranged into an intertwining surface. The checkered geometric pattern of what may have been a tablecloth breaks free of its formal role in an otherwise subdued setting. This shuffling of traditional and stylized geometric elements are integral to my painting practice.
