About the artwork
The prominent checkered surface here looks like a fantastical patchwork still life. The classical still life motif of a peeled lemon is expanded into large colorful examinations of yellow tones. A stylized geometric interpretation of the curling peel falls from the tabletop. This combination of geometric abstraction along with painterly ornament are typical of my painting. Here, they are combined to invoke a weaving together of the two styles.
