Girl Out The Window
About the artwork
In New York City, there is a day in spring when seasons collide—it feels like winter is trying to edge its way back in, but spring pushes through. In the past this day has brough hail, lightning storms and incredible gusts of wind. The girl I was with at the time was feeling a shared emotion with the day, so when she stuck her head out the window to take it all in, I hooked my leg onto the window and pushed myself outside without thinking of the danger. I saw the wind pushing her hair up, and I got the shot—twenty-eight floors up in the air.
This photo also hung in the home of “Gossip Girl” character Chuck Bass, as well as being in the exhibition “Don’t Stop Now: Fashion Photography Next,” which appeared at the Foam Museum, in Amsterdam, and at the London College of Fashion. Girl Out The Window is part of the collection of artist Ed Ruscha.
