About Julian Hoeber
Julian creates a world of geometric balance
“Los Angeles’ real estate is cheaper than New York. The tacos are better too!”
With the sole goal of exploring how form creates meaning and ideology, Los Angeles-based Julian Hoeber works in sculpture, drawing, filmmaking, installation, and photography to create works with linear harmony. He has had solo exhibitions in fusedspace, The UCLA Hammer Museum, and the Deste Foundation Centre for Contemporary Art. His many inspirations include Daido Moriyama, lab glass, Benjamin Moore paint colour fan decks and medical illustrations. Hoeber’s photograph for Absolut Art features his assistant, Sean Flaherty, cleaning the inside of a sculpture the both of them recently made. The sculpture possesses a concrete, brutalist form that is also bodily and slightly erotic.
