Documenting ones one point of view

“By denial I am interested in the epic tradition of revolutionary Cuban photography”

What’s your work about?
"For a decade I have been practicing continuously the exercise of documenting my own gaze (my point of view), sometimes in an incisive and literal way about what is found in your close surroundings and everyday life, in others, pursuing what I want to look at persistently."

What inspires you?
"One of my influences is the Cuban cinema of the sixties. Especially the documentary films made by Nicolás Guillén Landrián and Santiago Álvarez. By denial I am interested in the epic tradition of revolutionary Cuban photography. The only way I have to free myself of this passion is by documenting the transformation or the end of this era devoid of all epic. Among my reference photographers are: William Eggleston, Robert Frank, Saul Leiter, Wolfang Tillmans, Boris Mikhailov, Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama and Thomas Ruff."

Why have you chosen to live and work in Havana?
"Cuba at the moment is one of the most interesting places in the world, and that is for a photographer."
